Sergi Roberto has signed a new contract at Barcelona until 2022, ending talk of a possible move away from the Nou Camp.

The 26-year-old, who has made 34 appearances this season, had 18 months left on his previous deal but was linked to a reunion with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has ensured the youth team graduate has been tied down to a long-term deal, which includes a release clause of £440million.

‘I have always wanted to be here, I have been a Barca fan since I was little,’ Roberto said.

‘I have been at Barca for 12 years and my objective is to stay as long as possible’

Roberto broke into the Barca first team squad as a central midfielder but has often been deployed at right back more recently following the departure of Dani Alves to Juventus in 2016.

The Spaniard has enjoyed a trophy-laden career with the Catalan club since making his debut in November 2010.

He has four La Liga titles, two Champions League crowns and four Copa del Rey titles to his name.
